| To be the leading Biological Resource Bank of biomaterials for advancing knowledge, awareness and innovation in the conservation and use of Africa's biodiversity for the benefit and well-being of society. The wBRC/BioBankSA collects, processes, banks and distributes biomaterials (tissue, sperm, skin, hair, feathers, egg-shells, cell cultures etc.) from southern African wildlife & indigenous livestock for biodiversity conservation and biotechnology development. Samples of banked biomaterials will be supplied, with written consent from the owners or custodians and in accordance with national, regional and global policy and legislation, to national, regional and global organizations for ethical research, biotechnology development, biodiversity conservation and in such a way as to capture the maximum benefit to society. Specimens are uniquely numbered and do not require collection codes. | |
