The FGSC holds over 70,000 isolates of filamentous fungi including classical mutant, wild type, and gene deletion mutants for several fungi. Being a genetics repository, it emphasizes diversity of genetics and not diversity of organisms. Holdings include 48,000 Magnaporthe isolates, 20,000 Neurospora isolates, and several thousand Cryptococcus, Candida and Aspergillus strains.
